One card, one million possibilities. Une carte, un million de possibilités. OCTOBER 2022 | OCTOBRE 2022
October is Canadian Library Month!
All month long, libraries and library partners across Canada are raising awareness of the valuable role libraries play in Canadians’ lives.

More than just a place to find books, libraries promote cultural awareness, engage in the community, provide educational programs, support freedom of expression, and so much more.

Check out some of the ways we're working to make the Barrie Public Library more convenient, accessible, and relevant.

Library Kiosks
We have self-serve Kiosks (like book vending machines) in the Allandale Recreation Centre and the East Bayfield Community Centre!

Our staff restock the Kiosks weekly with popular adult, teen and children's books. You can also return books you've borrowed from any of our locations, and all you need is your library card.

Discover Your Roots at our Genealogy Fair
Interested in your family history and ready to move beyond what you can learn from your relatives? Our Genealogy Fair is back in person!

We invite curious beginners and experienced genealogists to meet the experts and explore a wide range of topics and research areas. Taking place at our Downtown Library (60 Worsley Street), sessions run from 10:00am - 4:15pm.
Keynote Speaker Linda Corupe will take you on a fascinating research journey of Amable Dusang and Sophie Solomon. The story of their lives and families, discovered in several different genealogical and historical resources, follows the family through the 19th century and finally ends near Penetanguishene.
