Barrie Public Library CEO, Lauren Jessop, and BPL Board Members stand in front of a new Library Book Kiosk. The Kiosk looks like a vending machine, but has books in it instead. It is branded with BPL green, blue, and red.
Book 'vending machines' launched at two City of Barrie Recreation Centres
We strive to reduce barriers and bring convenient library services to our community in unique ways. Our latest addition is BPL on the GO kiosks, which are like vending machines full of books!

The kiosks are located at the East Bayfield Community Centre just inside the main entrance off Stanley Street, and at the Allandale Recreation Centre up the ramp towards the gym. Library members can borrow or return items in a few simple steps – all you need is your library card.

Our staff restock the kiosks weekly with popular adult, teen and children’s books. Check out some books to bring home with you, or just to read while you’re there with your family.

Simcoe Reads: A Cover-to-Cover Competition
Seven local libraries are squaring off again for Simcoe Reads, a cover-to-cover competition based on Canada Reads! Each library selects a Canadian book and a local celebrity champion - our pick is Can You Hear Me Now? by Celina Caesar-Chavannes, and our champion is Claudine Cousins.
