That's right! We're excited to say that you can now visit us and create some beautiful designs with our Cricut machine. Drop by at your convenience and use the Cricut to make your next great project.

Not quite sure how to use the Cricut? Book a coaching appointment with us to develop your skills and create some paper or vinyl personalized projects to decorate your home or to gift.⁠

Ancestry’s Remote Access is Coming to an End

Ancestry cares deeply about libraries and their patrons, but they do have agreements with publishers and other business considerations that prevent them from offering remote access permanently. As a result, we must remove remote access by December 31, 2021.

To continue to enjoy Ancestry Library Edition, please visit either library branch. Note that you can access Ancestry Library via your laptop or tablet within the library, and of course you are welcome to use a library computer.

CloudLibrary is our main provider of eBooks and eAudiobooks. The Barrie Public Library owns thousands of titles and you can also borrow from the online collections of many other Ontario libraries.

View our featured shelves to see new or topical eBooks. Browse titles by selecting a topic or genre, or do a targeted search for a title or author.

Once checked out, eBooks return themselves when they reach their due date. No more late books! And if a popular title is being used by others, place a hold and get notified when it’s ready for you.

Throughout the month of December, members of the public are invited to attend our “Give Tuesday” virtual learning sessions where each week, we’ll feature a 1:1 Coffee Chat with a local professional who shares inspirational ways to incorporate charitable giving into your life. Special thanks to all our wonderful guests who volunteered their time to help spread kindness in our community.

BPL Socks: The Perfect Stocking Stuffers

BPL Socks are available for a limited time at both BPL locations. They're perfect for stocking stuffers, and you might as well buy yourself a pair too!

These comfortable and stylish socks are sure to keep your feet warm this winter while doing one of your favourite things - reading!

At the cost of $20 per pair, you can feel good about this purchase. All proceeds from the sales are dedicated to the advancement of BPL programs and services, helping us continue to support our community during the pandemic and beyond.
