Barrie Public Library Recognized for Innovation

We are honoured to announce that the Barrie Public Library has won the Minister’s Award for Innovation from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Gaming for our Mobile Device Project!
 
This award recognizes successful new approaches that demonstrate a positive impact in the community and provide continued value to public libraries.

Planning to Start for New Northwest Branch

Our CEO, Lauren Jessop, and Chair of the Barrie Public Library Board, Austin Mitchell, are excited to announce planning will begin soon to develop a new library branch in the city’s northwest area.
 
At the January 29 City Council meeting, Barrie City Council approved funding to begin the planning process. The funding will cover design, layout, community consultations, and demographic analysis to address the needs of the 26,000 residents in the area.

#ITSTARTS is a local campaign that take proactive steps toward addressing discrimination and racism in Simcoe County throughout the month of March. 
 
As a community champion of #ITSTARTS, we have a number of programs, reading lists, and resources that align with this important inititiave. We encourage everyone to get involved in promoting a unified community that embraces acceptance, inclusion, equity, and diversity.
