The Barrie Dragon Boat Festival is Back for 2024!

Join us on August 17, 2024 for the 20th annual Barrie Dragon Boat Festival, hosted by the Barrie Public Library and presented by Tim Hortons! 

Registration is now OPEN, with Early Bird registration running until April 30. Don’t miss your chance to save on team registration and to be entered into the Early Bird contest to win The Ultimate Tim Hortons Coffee Break.

This year we are capped at 30 teams so don't miss your chance to join in the fun!

Borrow Hotline All April Long

One eRead/Un livrel Canada is an annual digital book club connecting readers and libraries from across Canada. This year's pick is Hotline by Dimitri Nasrallah, with the French version translated by Daniel Grenier.

Access the eBook and eAudiobook with no holds or waitlists in both English and French throughout April at BPL.

Fix Your Household Items at Repair Café

Why buy something new when you can learn to fix what you already have? Join Living Green Barrie and our team of volunteer 'Fixers' to help you mend and repair common household items on April 27 for free! Firebird Community Cycle will also be on site for bike tune-ups and minor repairs. 

Registration for fixing appointments opens April 2. Space is limited, and drop-ins will be first-come, first-served. Click the button below to learn more about what type of items are suitable for repairs at the Repair Café.

On the afternoon of April 8, 2024, a solar eclipse will be observed from much of Ontario, including Barrie and surrounding areas. We've gathered some resources and activities you can do as a family to learn more about the upcoming eclipse including a children's book list, Pinhole Camera DIY event, and much more!
