Happy 1st birthday to our Holly Library

We cannot believe it has already been 1 year since we opened the doors of our Holly Library! With 24,957 checkouts, 4252 members who call Holly their home branch (2899 of which are new to the Barrie Public Library), it's safe to say this new location has made quite the splash.

"We are thrilled with the response from the Holly community. They have embraced the new location and our programming, not to mention our Summer Reading Club numbers have wildly surpassed expectations. Holly is a small but mighty location! We have filled a major gap in the community and we look forward to our second year." - Darcy Glidden, Manager of Community Libraries.

August Hot New Fiction

It's Dragon Boat Month!

This year’s Barrie Dragon Boat Festival takes place Saturday, August 19 at Heritage Park. Proudly hosted by the Barrie Public Library and presented by Tim Hortons, this will be the festival's 19th year bringing the community together through this fun and unique event.

Featuring close to 30 teams competing for a variety of challenge cups, we invite you to head to Heritage Park to watch as teams take to the starting line to race through Kempenfelt Bay. The first race is scheduled to begin just after 7:30am. 

Little Paddlers Colouring Contest

Back by popular demand, we've teamed up with Tim Hortons to bring back our annual Little Paddlers Colouring Contest in honour of our upcoming Dragon Boat Festival! Pickup your colouring sheet today for a chance to win a year's supply of Timbits, courtesy of Tim Hortons!

In celebration of our Simcoe Reads Book - How to Calm Your Mind, we invite you to come with your very best garden party hat to enjoy a few hours on our rooftop patio!

Calm Your Mind at our garden party while enjoying a lovey garden oasis, a fun musical interlude with a barbershop quartet, a "who has the fanciest garden hat" competition and more!

Seeking vendors for BPL Comic Fest

Calling all crafters, collectors, and artists! We're gearing up for our BPL Comic Fest taking place on Saturday, September 23, and we're looking for vendors for our market. Running from 10am-3pm, this free, family-friendly event showcases pop culture in Barrie.

There's still time to join our Summer Reading Club with four weeks left! Kids can participate online anytime, anywhere. Read stories, explore activities, and enjoy special programs and performers.
